3.  Depending on the nature of the project that is foreseen, a schedule of activities will then be arranged.

Certainly not all projects require a major planning effort. Residential additions often can be analyzed and programmed in one or two sittings. The residence is measured, or existing drawings are found, and graphic schemes may be developed to examine alternatives which have an appealing appearance and provide an arrangement of spaces that accomodate the lifestyle and functional requirements of the family.

In residential remodeling, the extent of changes relates directly to the number and strength of the needs of the family to be accomodated. Often all of the limitations of a given residence flood out in the first discussion. It would appear, at times, that we are destined to nearly gut the existing residence to resolve all the limitations! However, in my experience that has never happened, though I know that it has with some of my architect friends. My question is, "What caused you to buy this house?" and "Why are you considering staying in it if it has so many limitations?" (Back)
